8-12 March 2017

First Phase : The Art Residency

Four artists and professionals from the fields of product design, communication design, visual arts, architecture and crafts will be selected to participate in a 5-days residency, where they will design a workshop which they will lead in May 2017.

The participants will arrive in Pennabilli on the 8th of March 2017 (h. 12).

The travelling costs, both for private and public transport, will be covered by the organiser for a maximum of €300. During the residency,

room and board expenditure will also be offered.

An ancient farmstead, 3 kms from the centre of Pennabilli will host the artists while the Natural History Museum will be used as a place for working and gathering. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the historical and natural context of the territory through on-site visits and meetings with local experts.

The aim will be to conceive a project for each one of the 4 workshops that will take place later in May. The ideas that will come out of the residency will have to take into account the educational purpose of the workshop as well as the need to produce concrete results that will be presented during the Festival. The materials to realise the projects will be purchased by the organiser and will need to be defined during the residency.

22-31 May 2017

Second Phase : The Workshop

The details of the workshop will be defined in collaboration with the artists in residence. The four artists will became tutors of the 20 participants in the workshop.

Partecipants, together with their tutors, will work on one of the four projects designed during the residency. They will be hosted in houses in the centre of Pennabilli and work from the Natural History Museum and the Parco Begni.

During the workshop, participants will discover the Marecchia Valley, meet the local community and share their experiences of working with landscape.

The aim of the workshops is to practically realise the projects and to present the results at the Festival. "Artisti in Piazza".

Tutors will be supported by members of Paesaggi Migranti during the week and others collaborators will be available to assist in finalising the work.

1-4 June 2017

Third Phase : The Festival

The projects will be exhibited during the Festival of Performing Arts "Artisti in Piazza". This will give the artists and workshop participants the opportunity to show their work to a large and varied audience, to network with other performers that will be in Pennabilli during the event, and to enjoy the magical atmosphere of the festival.

Although we strongly suggest not to miss out on this event, the presence in Pennabilli during the Festival is not considered a requirement to apply to the call.
